Future Stars Inspired by Roundwood Visit
Rotherham United Ladies FC recently had the pleasure of inviting Rotherham United Whitehill Girls U12’s to be involved in the match day experience at Roundwood.
The Girls visited Roundwood as we prepared to kick off against Huddersfield in the Sheffield and Hallam FA Challenge Cup Cup clash.
The girls experienced the match day preparations at Roundwood before later meeting the players and having the chance to ask questions prior to kick off.
Ian Walker, Chairman of Brinsworth Whitehill said “From myself we see this link with Rotherham United Ladies as a crucial partnership to further the two clubs, as a junior football club it always encourages the young players when they can see a road to a higher standard of football and a step up to senior football as we do with our boys but with the boys their step up is just to grassroots football with the girls the step up is more professional with Rotherham United Ladies FC and this entices girls/players to join our club.
As a senior ladies football club it has to be a tremendous boost for RULFC to see that a future generation of players is already linked to their set up and that there is a fervent interest from the current and future players of Rotherham United Whitehill Girls”
Danielle Rice, RUWG U12 Manager
“The girls absolutely loved the whole experience – it inspired them. They could see that there is a pathway in to the ladies team, It strengthened the girls passion for football. The highlight for all the girls was listening to the pre-match talk from the manager – this was a valuable experience for them.
They all loved meeting the players and getting to spend time with them before the match. The ladies team made us all feel welcome and we all hope that we can repeat this truly fantastic experience.”
