Women’s team fixtures announced for their return to competitive football

Rotherham United Women are delighted to announce that we will be participating in the Trevor Clifton trophy this spring.

After a 5-month break, the lifting of government imposed lockdown restrictions means that the Millers Women can finally return to competitive football.

Despite the FA’s decision to curtail the 2020/2021 East Midlands Women Regional league competition due to Covid-19 related disruptions, the FA has set up a league cup competition comprising of a group stage and a knockout round.

The Trevor Clifton trophy comes as a welcomed consolation for the league being cancelled, as it offers RUWFC players a chance to return to match fitness in preparation for the 2021/22 season.

Rotherham United Women’s group consists of St Josephs Rockware of Worksop FC, Chesterfield FC Women and Oughtibridge WM Women FC.

RUWFC’s opening game will be away to St Josephs Rockware of Worksop FC on the 18th of April. This will be followed by a second away game at Chesterfield FC Women on the 25th, with the final group game being at home to Oughtibridge WM Women FC on 2nd May.

The two teams who top the group will progress into the league cup and the bottom two will participate in a league plate competition.

Club captain Amy Pollock said: “I think I’m talking for all the girls when I say this; we’re all very excited and absolutely overjoyed to be getting back to the thing we love the most”.

The allowance of spectators to these games will be based upon current government guidance. Keep up to date with RUWFC news on our twitter page: @RUWFC_official.
